Three green ship models independently developed by China Shipbuilding Hudong Zhonghua have been certified by the five major international classification societies "AIP".

On July 21, a technical exchange seminar with the theme of "Collaborative Innovation, Leading Low Carbon" was held in Hudong-Zhonghua, a subsidiary of CSSC. The highlights of this seminar are China's first 98,000 cubic meter liquid ammonia carrier independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua with complete intellectual property rights, a heavy-duty 16,000TEU methanol-powered container ship, and the world's latest joint research and development with GTT. The three-cabin 174,000-cubic-meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier and three green ship models of the concept have been awarded by DNV Classification Society, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR) and Bureau Veritas (BV) and China Classification Society (CCS) and other five major international classification societies issued the Approval in Principle (AiP) certificate.

The successful research and development of the three types of new ships marks that Hudong Zhonghua, which has gone through 95 years of spring and autumn, has always adhered to the original intention of hard work, dedication and innovation, and is concentrating on the research and development of diversified clean energy transport ships and low-carbon fuel-powered ships. New breakthroughs have been made in the field, providing more Chinese solutions for the global shipping industry to achieve green carbon reduction (zero carbon) sustainable development.

At the seminar, ABS, LR, and CCS respectively issued AIP certificates for 98,000 cubic meters of liquid ammonia carriers to Hudong Zhonghua. ABS, LR, DNV, BV, and CCS respectively issued AIP certificates for 16,000TEU methanol-powered container ships to Hudong-Zhonghua. ABS, LR, DNV, and BV issued AIP certificates to Hudong-Zhonghua and French GTT for three-cabin large LNG carriers of 174,000 cubic meters respectively.

It is understood that based on more than 20 years of professional experience in cultivating low-temperature gas storage and transportation equipment, Hudong-Zhonghua has successfully developed the 98,000 gas tank, focusing on the characteristics of liquid ammonia transportation, focusing on diversified types of liquid cargo that can be stored and transported and maximizing the utilization of hull space. Cubic meter liquid ammonia carrier. The ship has a total length of 230 meters, a molded width of 36.6 meters, and a molded depth of 23.4 meters. It is the first "Xiaobawang" with a cabin capacity of 98,000 cubic meters among ships of the same scale. In order to ensure that the toxic ammonia fuel will not cause harm to the health of the crew during operation, unique designs have been made for ammonia fuel leakage detection, transmission pipelines and supply systems, water spray absorption systems, etc., providing compatible varieties for the global maritime community A liquid ammonia storage and transportation solution with multiple, strong cargo capacity, and high safety and reliability.

The 16,000TEU methanol-powered container ship has a total length of 367 meters, a molded width of 51 meters, and a molded depth of 30.2 meters. The methanol tank has a capacity of 11,000 cubic meters. It is environmentally friendly, safe and reliable, and has a light structure, strong cargo capacity, and low fuel consumption. The comprehensive performance and other features will provide a very competitive new option for the shipping industry. As a leading company in the R&D and construction of large and ultra-large container ships in China, Hudong-Zhonghua creates the future with "intelligence" and vigorously develops various types of low-carbon fuel-powered container ships, covering various sizes from 8,000 TEU to 24,000 TEU, including conventional fuel, methanol, LNG, A variety of power sources such as liquid ammonia, and various types of fuel tanks such as membrane type and independent tank type are provided to meet the individual needs of various shipowners.

The three-compartment convenient 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier jointly developed by Hudong-Zhonghua and GTT is an optimized design of the plus version launched by Hudong-Zhonghua after the G5 LNG carrier. This type of ship has an overall length of 290.0 meters, a molded width of 46.4 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a cabin capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, a service speed of 19.5 knots, and a GTT NO96 Supper+ cargo containment system. Its biggest highlight is that the traditional configuration of 4 liquid cargo tanks is optimized to 3, which reduces the insulating layer area of liquid cargo tanks with the same volume by more than 7%. Thanks to the reduction in the number of cargo tanks, the hull is lighter in weight, smaller in scale, less in cryogenic equipment, less in tank materials, shorter in construction period, and easier in maintenance, which can greatly improve the economy of the entire life cycle of the ship type and convenience.

Since the successful delivery of the first large-scale LNG carrier in 2008, Hudong-Zhonghua has successfully developed, designed and built the second-generation "Changjian" series, the third-generation "Changan" series, the fourth-generation "Changxing" series and the fifth-generation "Changxing" series. On behalf of the "Changheng" series of LNG carriers, it has delivered a total of more than 40 LNG carriers (equipment) and 5 world's largest 23,000TEU dual-fuel ultra-large container ships powered by LNG. In particular, the fifth-generation "Changheng" series ships have been popular in the market as soon as they came out, creating a global record of 34 ships of the same ship type in one year.

At the seminar, Hudong-Zhonghua also signed an ammonia fuel power system joint development agreement with CSSC Power (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and CCS, to jointly build an industry-leading zero-carbon ship-type customized green power system, and to lead China's shipbuilding industry contributes to China's wisdom and strength by realizing the innovative development of zero-carbon ships and the green transformation of the global shipping industry.
